Dear Parents,
As you are aware, due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish has decided to take the step of closing school until the school board and administration deem it safe to return. During this time of uncertainty, the Religious Education/CCD Team would like you to know that we will be continuing to offer Religious educational classes by Distance learning for students at home via Zoom.
Here is a summary:
· Fall session will begin on 9/12/2020 to 5/15/2021
· Classes will be held 9 am-10 am every Saturday (except during Holidays
· First Communion Preparation is a two-Year Program
· Registration is online on Parish website
· Fees must be paid directly to the OMGC Rectory office: A onetime fee for the year is required upon Registration:
1). one child $75.00.
2). Two or more children in the same family $125
· A Gmail Account will be created for each child to sign into his/her Zoom class.
· Religious Education Teachers will be contacting you before we start classes on 9/12/2020
· we also understand the importance of limiting screen time. At least 45 minutes Saturday mornings.
Because this is brand new territory for all of us, we are expecting there will be glitches along the way. We ask that you are patient as we try to figure this out. Please know and understand that, we will be working hard behind the scenes to make this as beneficial and smooth as possible. We look forward to working with you as we all tackle this challenge.

PREPARATION FOR STUDENTS GRADE 1 THRU 8
Religious Education classes for all students not enrolled in our school are conducted Saturday mornings (September through May) beginning with 8:00 a.m. Mass. The preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a two year process beginning as early as age 7. Children are expected to attend these CCD Classes (or be enrolled in Catholic School) from kindergarten through 8th grade whether or not they are preparing for a sacrament. Regular Mass attendance on Sunday is expected of these candidates and their parents. Registration forms are available from the parish office each August.

This is a two year course, September - April, offered in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation for high school students, beginning at age 14.
The Mission of this group is to strive to actively participate and live our faith so we can be examples for our peers, families, and community. We will continue learning about our faith so that we may grow in love to spread the Good news.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Classes for adults who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation meets every first and third Wedsday at 7:15 PM, September through the end of Easter season. Adults seeking Baptism or First Eucharist would also meet at this time.

CERTAIN CONDITIONS ARE NECESSARY FOR MARRIAGE
IN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN ADHERENCE TO CANON LAW:
Please contact the parish office at least six months prior to the desired wedding date. For a wedding to take place at least one party must be a registered and participating parishioner for at least six months prior to scheduling your first appointment with the priest and one party must be confirmed in the Catholic faith.
Registration in the parish is required for any adult 18 years and older regardless of other family members currently registered. Once these two requirements have been met, you may contact the priest to schedule an appointment.
